Seeley’s Selections – Venezuela v Peru

Match Betting

Venezuela v Peru

It was a good night for favourite backers – finally – in the Copa America on Tuesday with Paraguay and Argentina doing the business for lovers of a short one.

Despite those results it’s been a tournament for the underdog and that could continue in the Group C clash between group minnows Venezuela and Peru.

I’m shocked to see Venezuela as 9/5 underdogs with BoyleSports as I was expecting them to be around the even money mark and that price has to be taken.

Venezuela produced the shock of the tournament with their 1-0 win against Colombia in their opener and, despite that victory which was well deserved, they get no respect from the BoyleSports odds-compilers ahead of this one.

A win for La Vinotinto should see them qualify through to the quarter-finals and I think they will get that but it won’t be easy in a fixture that usually has a history of being a very fiery one.

Recent internationals involving Venezuela have been entertaining ones with 11 of their last 14 matches producing three or more goals, but this one is going to be tight.

The Venezuelans are on the brink of making it out of a very tricky group and if they get the opening goal – which I believe they will – that is expected to be job done and I can see them settling for it, so Peru will find it very hard to break them down.

A 1-0 Venezuela win was the result against Colombia and the same scoreline again at 6/1 with BoyleSports is what I’m swaying towards in what is one of the biggest games in their international history.

Peru came very close to getting a valuable point against Brazil in their opening fixture only for Peruvian hearts to be broken by a late bit of Neymar magic. This is a must win game for La Blanquirroja as well, and I think they will just fall short as they offer very little in the way of attack – just managing to score more than one goal in one of their last eight internationals.

The two met in a friendly in April and Venezuela won that by a 1-0 margin, and they’ve won their last two meetings against Peru, so I think they will do it again and book their place in the quarter-finals.

Torino striker Josef Martinez scored the only goal in a heated friendly in Florida and the industry best 9/1 available with BoyleSports on him scoring the first in the early hours of Friday morning is well worth a small play.

B Lucky!
