Shane Lowry’s Form

Lowry’s Wins In 2023

Lowry is without a victory in 2023 with his most recent win coming at the BMW PGA Championship back in September of 2022 where he beat second-placed Rory Mcllroy and Jon Rahm by one stroke.

In 2023 the closest Lowry has come to victory was back in February at the Honda Classic where he finished tied for fifth, five strokes back from the winner.

Most Recent Form

Lowry has almost performed better at the “bigger events” in recent months coming T16 at The Masters back in April. He followed that performance with disappointing showings on the PGA Tour where he had a T67 finish at the RBC Heritage and was CUT at the Wells Fargo Championship.

When it was time for the next major Lowry performed decently against with a very respectable T12 at the PGA Championship.

Recent Major Form

2022 was a hit-and-miss year for Lowry at the Majors. At the Masters he finished T3 with a score of -5 two strokes behind Rory Mcllroy and five strokes behind winner Scottie Scheffler.

However, that was followed by T23 at the PGA Championship, being CUT at the US Open and T21 at The Open Championship. 2023 has been a more consistent year for Lowry at the Majors finishing T16 at The Masters and T12 at the PGA Championship.

Shane Lowry US Open Form

Lowry’s best finish at the US Open was when he came T2 at the event back in 2016 with his second-best appearance at the event coming a year before that coming T9 in 2015. The Irishman went into the final round of that year’s US Open as the leader but a terrible final round of +6 saw finish three shots behind eventual winner Dustin Johnson.

Aside from those two years, Lowry hasn’t performed too strongly at this event.

His full US Open record is as follows from 10 entries he has been cut 6 times, 2 Top-25 appearances,  2 Top-10s, 1 Top-5 and one second-place.

Shane Lowry’s Major Wins

Shane Lowry has one previous major success which came at The Open Championship 2019 where he shot an impressive -15 under to storm the field and win his first major title by six strokes from his closest challenger Tommy Fleetwood in second place.

Lowry will be opening to put himself into contention for his second major and if he is to go and win he will have to beat out the likes of an in form Rory McIlroy. We previewed McIlroy’s 2023 US Open chances in a recent post.
