Steven Gerrard And Roberto Martinez Backed For Aston Villa Job
There has been a major shake-up in the betting on who will replace Dean Smith at Aston Villa with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard the new favourite.
Dean Smith was sacked on Sunday by Aston Villa after their 1-0 loss to Southampton on Friday; their fifth Premier League defeat in a row which leaves them 16th in the table.
John Terry was the 9/4 favourite on Sunday night but that all changed on Monday morning with former Liverpool sensation Steven Gerrard backed into 6/4 from 7/2 in the betting making him the new frontrunner with Terry out to 5/1.
The biggest mover however is Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez who is open to the possibility of a move back to the Premier League.
The Spaniard has been with Belgium since 2016, during which time he has taken them to No. 1 in the FIFA rankings and is 4/1 from 16/1 to move to Villa Park.
