Tiger Roll Treble Favourite After Grand National Weights Revealed

Tiger Roll is still a favourite with punters to land an unprecedented third Grand National in a row despite featuring near the head of the weights when they were revealed on Tuesday.

Trainer Gordon Elliott admitted the owner will have the final say on whether the dual winner will go for a historic treble, but admitted he would be disappointed if he doesn’t run having been allocated a weight of 11st 9lb.

The 11-year-old has been given a 16/1 chance of winning the Aintree showpiece again,

…while Bristol De Mai (28/1 from 33/1) and Easysland (22/1 from 25/1) were also backed on Tuesday after being two of only three horses allocated more weight than Tiger Roll.

The diminutive hero is joined at the head of the market by reigning BoyleSports Irish Grand National winner Burrows Saint and the Jonjo O’Neill trained Cloth Cap, who has shortened into 16/1 from 20/1 to deliver owner Trevor Hemmings a record fourth victory in the race.

Cloth Cap certainly has the right connections as well as a big win at Newbury under his belt this season, and at 16/1 co-favourite from 20/1 it’s safe to say he was one the most well-backed horses in the hours after the weights were revealed.

Although, there’s no doubt that punters want Tiger Roll to give it a go and we’ll be keeping a close eye on him if he runs at Navan this weekend as expected, because he’s still very popular at 16/1.
