Turner Novices’ Chase Betting Tips For Cheltenham Festival | Robbie Power

Gold Cup winning jockey Robbie Power has singled out L’Homme Presse in this year’s Turner Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Venetia Williams’ prospect is 7/1 to win the contest, and the Gold Cup and Grand National winning jockey reckons he is a good jumper and looks the main danger to 4/6 favourite Bob Olinger, but fears the race could lack strength and depth.

“L’Homme Presse for Venetia Williams was very impressive at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, and he is definitely the strongest of the English challengers,” said Power, speaking to BoyleSports’ Leon Blanche.

“He is a very nice jumper and is a horse on the improve, so who knows when he will stop improving. He represents great each-way value at 7/1.

“Bob Olinger is favourite, but he isn’t favourite based on what he has done this season, he is favourite based on what he done last season. He won his beginners chase at Gowran Park and he won impressively.

“The horse that finished third that day Master McShee came out and won a Grade One at Limerick over Christmas which is fantastic for a small yard to win a Grade One. I don’t think it was the strongest contest, however.

“Bob Olinger beat Barcardys who I think has been running over fences for the last three seasons and is still a novice chaser, so there is no great strength and depth to that form.

“His jumping that day was adequate. That’s all it was and it was nothing like what we have seen from Galopin Des Champs or Bravemansgame.

“If Galopin Des Champs swerves this race and goes for the 3 miler then this could be the weakest of the novice chases because Bravemansgame will go the 3 miler too and Appreciate It will stay hurdling.”
