The PM is reported to be under increasing pressure from a number of her own MPs after fielding just four questions from journalists at a rushed press conference on Friday afternoon in the wake of Kwarteng’s dismissal just five weeks after he was appointed.

With pressure growing from within her own party ranks and newly appointed Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt reversing her economic tax plan in the latest turn of events, Truss has now been backed down to 2/5 from 5/6 to be replaced by the end of the year.

A price that had been out at 20/1 the day she took up residence at 10 Downing Street. BoyleSports have also slashed the odds on a Number 10 exit next year, which has now been gambled down to 9/4.

The man Truss beat in the leadership contest is the main candidate being backed to replace her, with Rishi Sunak clipped into 8/5 favourite from 7/1 to be the next Tory leader.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Reports are swirling that Tory MPs are turning on Truss already and the money this week suggests punters think things could unravel pretty quickly. The odds on her being replaced this year are shortening by the day and even if she survives, she’s odds-on to go in 2023 so there is a high expectation of a short stay.”
