Un de Sceaux Upsets Favourite Backers In BoyleSports Champion Chase

Un de Sceaux overcame the odds to land the BoyleSports Champion Chase for the second year in succession as Min found no answers when put to the test under Ruby Walsh back in second.

The headline race of the Punchestown Festival’s opening day came down to a battle between the two Willie Mullins stars as expected, but it was Paul Townend’s mount who turned in the lead and 8/13 favourite Min never looked like bridging the gap.

Willie Mullins could have another big winner on his hands in Wednesday’s big race, as he sends Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo to tackle two other stable companions Kemboy and Bellshill in the Punchestown Gold Cup.

The Mullins trio are dominating the market with Al Boum Photo and Kemboy joint 13/8 favourites, while Irish Gold Cup winner Bellshill is a 9/2 shot.

We have to congratulate connections of Un de Sceaux on winning back-to-back BoyleSports Champion Chases. His stablemate Min was the better fancied of the two leading up to the race…

so in the end it was a good result for us but we are well aware there are plenty of big races to come this week for punters to get their own back.
