World Matchplay Darts Betting Favourites
Gerwyn Price – 7/2
The Welshman and fourth-seed is favourite to avenge defeat from Michael Van Gerwen last year to win the event this year as the current in-form thrower on the oche.
Last month he, along with Johnny Clayton, won the 2023 World Cup of Darts. In Price’s last 200 legs, he leads the Averages with 98.29, and his 79 171-180 score is only less than Dobey and Humphries with 81.
Michael Van Gerwen – 4/1
The reigning and defending Champion and three-time winner of this event is expected to be thereabouts again, as he always tends to be.
The 2023 Premier League winner did not participate in last month’s World Cup of Darts. While not the unstoppable force he was before van Gerwen is still one of the sport’s very best. In his last 200 legs, he has the sixth-highest average of 96.84 and third-most 171-180s. The Dutch man’s A-Game is arguably on a different level to anyone else.
Michael Smith – 5/1
The World Number 1 and 2023 World Champion showed at the beginning of the year with that victory that he is not the serial choker that many people were unfairly labelling him as.
Smith’s last 200 legs, however, only have him averaging the ninth highest with 96.18 but with crucially the fourth-best Double Rate at 41.56%
Luke Humphries – 14/1
An outside bet with more than an outside chance, Humphries has been tipped to have the game to win one of the Majors for a few years now with his three World Championship Quarter-Final appearances. However, his best result at the Matchplay is only a Last 16 finish in 2021 and he will be hoping to correct that record this time around.
In his last 200 legs, he has the third-highest average with 97.79, the joint most 171-180 scores with 81 and the second-best Double Rate with 42.56%. Given that form Humphries is certainly a man to watch out for in this tournament.

World Matchplay Darts Format
All matches have to be won by two clear legs, with a match being extended, if necessary, for a maximum of six extra legs before a tie-break leg is required. For example, in a first to 10 legs first-round match, if the score reaches 12–12, then the 25th leg will be the decider.
The matches get longer as the tournament progresses:
First round: First to 10 legs
Second round: First to 11 legs
Quarter-finals: First to 16 legs
Semi-finals: First to 17 legs
Final: First to 18 legs

World Matchplay Darts 2023 Draw
The draw for the 2023 World Matchplay has been made and the number one seeded World Champion Michael Smith will face Steve Beaton in the first round. However the outstanding tie is without a shadow of a doubt: Dave Chisnall versus Gary Anderson.#Darts I #WorldMatchplay I #WM23 pic.twitter.com/TA35uqu6Vg
