Form
The WP Mullins-trained seven-year-old gelding has an excellent career record of seven victories, one runner-up finish and one third-place finish from ten outings on the track, a level of consistency and class to justify favourite for any race.
The horse’s most recent outing on track was at Cork last December returning to the track for the first time since winning in Punchestown 227 days ago back in April. However, the break from the track didn’t stop El Fabiolo from winning its sixth race in a row beating five other horses including runner-up Fil Dor by four and three-quarter lengths.
Cheltenham Form
El Fabiolo has raced at Cheltenham on one occasion coming at the festival last March, winning the Arkle Novices Chase coming five and a half lengths ahead of runner-up Jonbon.
Verdict
El Fabiolo seems to be in a league of her own and so is a very worthy favourite to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Jonbon’s most recent outing on track was at Sandown last month where he won the four-horse-field coming two and three quarter lengths ahead of runner-up Edwardstone which was the horse’s second successive victory on track over the horse and fourth victory in a row.

Cheltenham Form
The horse has run at Cheltenham on two occasions, the first coming in the Supreme Novices Hurdle at the festival in 2022 where the horse was second beaten a comprehensive twenty-two lengths by Constitution Hill.
The horse was again beaten at Cheltenham Festival 2023 this time in the Arkle Novices Chase coming five and a half lengths behind winner El Fabiolo.
Verdict
Jonbon has been the bridesmaid at the event on two occasions and will need to be at her very best here to challenge El Faiolo.
Dinoblue
Odds
The third favourite for the 2024 Queen Mother Champion Chase is Dinoblue at 12/1. Those odds imply that Dinoblue has a 10% chance of being crowned the next Queen Mother Champion Chase winner.

The horse most recently ran in Leopardstown at the end of last month over the two-mile one-furlong distance, beating four other horses including closest challenger Gentleman De Mee by seven and a half lengths.
Cheltenham Form
The horse has run at Cheltenham once coming last March in a Handicap Chase being beaten six and a half lengths by Maskada.
Verdict
While the horse’s record isn’t too shabby, especially in Chase races, it’ll need to find new gears if it’s to trouble those at the top of this betting market.
Edwardstone
Odds
Next up in the betting is Edwardstone who is also a 20/1 chance to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival. Those odds suggest that Edwardstone has a 4.8% chance of 2024 Queen Mother Champion Chase glory.

The horse most recently ran at Kempton earlier this month where the horse finished a disappointing fourth from the field of five horses and twenty-five lengths back of winner Banbridge.
Cheltenham Form
The horse has run at Cheltenham on several occasions, the first coming on the old course in the Novices Hurdle at the festival in 2020 finishing sixth and twenty-three lengths back of Shishkin. The second outing came on Cheltenham and was followed by a fifth finish the following November in a Handicap Hurdle.
At the Festival in 2021, the horse came fifth from a field of twenty-five in a Handicap Hurdle, However, the horse finally earned its first Cheltenham victory at the festival in 2022 winning a Novices Chase coming four and a quarter lengths ahead of Runner-up Gabynako.
The horse ran at Cheltenham on three occasions in 2023, January coming runner-up on the new course beaten a head by Editeur Du Gite, at the festival the horse came fifth but a staggering sixty-four lengths behind Energumne on the old course, but improved in November coming second nine and a half lengths behind Jonbon.
Verdict
Edwardstone is an experienced Cheltenham Campaigner but recent form suggests that the horse could be past its best making any prospect of success difficult here.
Captain Guinness
Odds
At 25/1 to win the 2024 Queen Mother Champion Chase is L’Homme Presse. Those odds imply that L’Homme Presse has a 3.8% chance of winning the 2024 Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Form
The nine-year-old trained by Henry De Bromhead was last seen at Leopardstown at the end of last month where the horse was pulled up before 2 out, with the vet reporting that the gelding was clinically abnormal post-race.
The horse will need a reverse in fortunes if it is to stand any chance in this race, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility with the horse highly thought of by jockey Rachael Blackmore.
Cheltenham Form
The horse has run at Cheltenham on three occasions, first in the Supreme Novices Hurdle in March 2020 when the horse was unfortunately brought down while in contention.
The second time the horse ran was at the Cheltenham Festival in 2021 in the Arkle Chase where the horse finished third and thirteen lengths back of Shishkin. However, the horse did finish second in this race at the last festival coming ten lengths back of winner Energumene.
Verdict
It would take a mammoth training performance for a reversal in fortunes for this horse to win, but it certainly has the ability.
