Gesskille Backed To Go One Better In BoyleSports Grand Sefton

Gesskille is set to go off favourite for the BoyleSports Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at Aintree on Saturday after the title sponsor trimmed him into 3/1 from 7/2 following final declarations.

Eleven runners will go to post in Saturday’s showdown over the famous Grand National fences after the track survived an inspection on Friday morning.

Former Grand National winning jockey and BoyleSports racing ambassador Robbie Power said:

“It may not be the biggest field we’ve ever seen, but it’s a very competitive one and it looks to be a fantastic renewal.”

“Gesskille was just beaten last year and has a big, big chance and we know how much Venetia Williams horses love heavy ground, so if it does get the go-ahead Frero Banbou would have a massive chance.”

Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero’s charge Gesskille was back to winning ways when reappearing in the Listed Prix Richard et Robert Hennessy at Auteuil in September and will be attempting to go one better than last year when he finished a nose behind winner Al Dancer.

The 7-year-old leads the betting ahead of last season’s Topham runner-up Fantastic Lady (5/1 from 11/2), who shares top weight with the Donald McCain-trained Minella Trump (11/1).

Scottish Grand National runner-up Copper’s Cross shares third favouritism at 7/1 with Born By The Sea, who stayed to finish sixth in April’s Grand National at the same track.
