The 2019 Love Island winner is now 5/1 from 10/1 for the gig, but Maya Jama, who was second favourite when Whitmore landed the job in 2020, is the leading candidate at 1/4 from 6/4 to be handed one of TV’s most coveted presenting roles.

Gill is not the only islander attracting support as Longford lass Maura Higgins has moved into 8/1 from 10/1 but was much shorter last month at 9/2.

Greg O’Shea, who won the 2019 title with Amber, was trimmed into 25/1 from 50/1 when the betting was introduced with some punters getting behind him to become the first male host of the show.

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Former Love Island winner Amber Gill is the latest name to attract support to replace Laure Whitmore as the host.

Gill has been clipped into 5/1 from 10/1 in the betting with her former partner Greg O’Shea 25/1 from 50/1.

Irish beaut Maura Higgins is 8/1 from 10/1 but was much shorter last month at 9/2.”
