Michael Van Gerwen

MVG is still the strong favourite to win this 2023 Darts World Championship at 9/4. The Dutch man has been in flying form heading into this tournament with a win in the Players Championship Finals last month.

Van Gerwen has been the greatest darts talents of his generation and he already has three World Darts Championships to his name along with two other finals appearances. If the current world number 3 and tournament favourite is to go on and win then it would be his first world title since 2019.

Michael Smith

‘Bully Boy’ Michael Smith is second favourite in the betting for this World Championship at odds of 9/2. Smith got his tournament bid off to a very strong start with a convincing 3-0 win over Northern Ireland’s Nathan Rafferty.

Smith finished runner up in this tournament last year when he was beaten in the final by Scotland’s Peter Wright 7-5. The English man currently sits at number four in the Darts world rankings and his two televised tournament wins this year in the US Darts Masters and Grand Slam of Darts will make him a confident man in this competition.

Gerwyn Price

The world number one Gerwyn Price is third in the betting to win the Darts World Championship at 11/2 odds. Price has already gotten his hands on this title in 2021 when he convincingly beat Scotland’s Gary Anderson 7-3 in the final.

The Iceman has had plenty of success in the two years since that world title too with three televised titles including a win at the Grand Slam of Darts last year. The Welsh man suffered a bit of a scare in the second round against Luke Woodhouse when he went a set down but ultimately came back to win 3-1.

Peter Wright

The defending champion Peter Wright is fourth in the betting at Alexandra Palace at odds of 10/1. Last year’s title was Wright’s second World Championship and his 12th televised title in total.

The form admittedly hasn’t been great for the Scot since that World Championship win in January but his pedigree in big events makes him a threat to go all the way. Wright got his tournament defence off to a strong start thanks to a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland’s Mickey Mansell.

Josh Rock

Northern Ireland’s Josh Rock is a young phenom on the darts scene and he has gained respect in the betting market at 12/1. Rock will be an interesting dark horse to keep an eye on in this World Championship after his Youth World Championship win last month.

The 21 year old got his tournament off to a strong start with a 3-1 win against Justicia Perales of Spain. Rock had a 3-dart average of 93.36 in that game along with a checkout percentage of 47.62%.
