Luke Humphries

The newest name dominating the darting world is Luke Humprhies. “Cool Hand Luke” was always considered a tremendous prospect but has come alive this season with successes in the World Grand Prix and most recently in the Grand Slam of Dartts.

He is already three-time Quarter-Finalist and despite a fourth-round defeat to Stephen Bunting last time in the competition. He looks a different prospect now and we could find another new name on the World Championship trophy.

Michael Van Gerwen

MVG is a three-time World Championship winner and so can’t be dismissed at 9/2 joint second-favourite.  This year he is two-time ranking finalist, one-time Quarter-Finalist and has won the Premier League Darts and World Series of Darts.

The Green Machine is the greatest darting talent of his generation and he will be out for blood in this event after his final defeat last time.

Gerwyn Price

The world number five Gerwyn Price is joint second in the betting to win the Darts World Championship at 9/2 odds. Price this season is a two-time ranking Quarter-Finalist, one runner-up and won the PDC World Cup of Darts.

He won this event back in 2021 and has since been both a Quarter-Finalist in 2022 and 2023. He can be gotten at 9/2.

Michael Smith

‘Bully Boy’ Michael Smith fulfilled his darting destiny in this event last time beating MVG in the final 7-4 and relinquishing the demons of his final defeats in 2019 and 2022.

Since winning the World Championship he has not won a major event, but that shouldn’t stop him mounting a big challenge again to defend his trophy next month. He is currently 9/1 to do just that.

Gary Anderson

The Scotsman is a two-time World Championship winner coming out on top in 2015 and in 2016 and since then he has been runner-up twice. He did have a disappointing 1-4 third-round defeat to Dobey last time in the event though.

In recent weeks he’s looking he has found some form again reaching the Quarter-Final of the Grand Slam of Darts. But the questions remains can he win another world title?

He is currently 10/1 become a three-time winner of the evcnt.
