Republic Of Ireland Backed Off The Boards For Lithuania Win

Republic of Ireland are all the rage with punters to beat Lithuania after they extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches with a 2-2 draw against Belgium at the weekend.

Ogbene And Brown Shine in Aviva

FIFA’s number one-ranked side led twice in Dublin on Saturday evening, but goals from Chiedozie Ogbene and Alan Browne were enough for the hosts to avoid a first home friendly defeat since March 2017.

Stephen Kenny’s side have since been clipped into 2/7 from 2/5 in the betting with BoyleSports to continue their run in Dublin on Tuesday night with a victory over Lithuania, who have failed to get the better of the Irish in four previous head-to-heads.

Chiedozie Ogbene, who was singled out for praise by his manager after a man of the match performance against Belgium, is a 13/8 shot to add to his international tally.

The chances of him opening the scoring have now been backed down to 5/1 from 11/2.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:

“It was very creditable draw against the world’s best-ranked side and the Republic of Ireland go into the match against Lithuania backed by a wave of support we haven’t seen for some time.

“Confidence is really building behind the Boys in Green and the fact we’ve been forced down to 2/7 from 2/5 about a win shows a growing belief that Stephen Kenny has turned the tide.”
