Ruby Picks Ballycasey For Gowran Glory

Eighteen runners and three reserves have been declared for tomorrow’s Goff’s Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park. We currently have a three way tie for favouritism at the head of the betting.

Willie Mullins’ Ballycasey, Gordon Elliott’s Mala Beach and the ‘Mouse’ Morris trained Folsom Blue are all locked together at 7/1 with another Gordon Elliott trained horse Ucello Conti, who was second in a valuable handicap at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival, next in the betting at 8/1 alongside Rule The World.

Elliott has yet to win the race but believes he holds a strong hand this year with both Mala Beach and Ucello Conti, who are proving to be popular each way selections.

The Job is Right who travelled well in the race last year when coming down at the last fence is next in the betting at 10/1. The Willie Mullins trained Suntiep is priced at 14/1 alongside Vics Canvas and last year’s runner up, My Murphy.

Ballycasey however remains the worst result in the book for the firm having been supported down from 16/1 since the race was priced up last week.

Ruby Walsh has picked him from the four Willie Mullins runners and it is believed he may well go off clear favourite come race time tomorrow as he bids to give connections further success in the race following on from Djakadam’s victory last year.
