‘Todd Boehly Has Turned Chelsea Into The New PSG’ – Aliadière

New Chelsea Owner and American Businessman Todd Boehly has turned Chelsea into the new PSG according a former Arsenal striker.

That former Arsenal striker is Jeremie Aliadiere who played for the Gunners from 2001-2007 a period which included the great Invincibles side. The French man also had spells at Celtic, West Ham and most successfully at Middlesborough where he made 78 appearances.

Chelsea are of course one of Arsenal’s biggest London rivals and Aliadiere pulled no punches when discussing the current state of the the Blues.

Do you think Todd Boehly has turned Chelsea into the new PSG With too many superstars who can’t click?

I think Todd Boehly has turned Chelsea into the new PSG. I’m from Paris and I’ve been a PSG fan since I was a kid, I’ve seen that when you start buying players just because of the name and what they bring you financially, you just get it wrong.

Buying players for the sake of buying players never works. You have to build a team, get people getting on with each other, working for their teammates. You need players who are not selfish, who can gel in the team. Individuals can win you games but they can’t win you a Premier League season.

What’s in store for Chelsea next season?

Chelsea don’t even have a manager for next season yet. They have way too many players, and have some players who look like they don’t want to be there. It’s a massive mess. Since Roman Abramovich left it’s been a shambles.

Every club has that stage at some point, a transition. But I think buying and buying isn’t the answer. You look at their players and you don’t expect them to be in the bottom half of the Premier League. It just shows you need stability, you need to recruit players who are hungry to play, understand the system and history of the club.

Coming from abroad, you might be great but come to England and find it tough.

What Did You Make Of Arsenal’s Performance Against Chelsea?

I thought Arsenal were great against Chelsea, in the first half they started on the front foot as expected and as they’ve done all season. I have to mention Chelsea were really poor, they look like a broken team.

But after the disappointing run of results we needed a good performance which we did, everyone was back to normal.

Do you think Odegaard Would Have Slotted in to your Invincibles Side?

My Arsenal side didn’t have the kind of player Odegaard is at the time. The way we played was a 4-4-2, we were much more direct and quicker to go forward.

Football has changed, it’s all about possession and keeping the ball moving, taking your time. The way he plays you have to admire it, and technically he’s outstanding and his vision is brilliant too.

But I’m not sure he would have fit into the Invincibles team, into a position. But quality wise for sure, he would have made the Invincibles side.

Do Arsenal need a miracle from The Man City v West Ham Game?

Arsenal are going to need some help to win this title, and if it’s West Ham tonight then fantastic. Is it going to happen? You’re going to need close to a miracle. The way City are playing at the moment, as well as them being at home, they seem unbeatable.

You need a West Ham in great form but they’re not. They’re not safe yet and need points, but it’s a tough task. I’d go for City to win 3-0.

Man City are on the cusp of a historic treble and we took a look at City’s chances of pulling off the treble in a recent post.
