Ukraine participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song “Stefania” performed by the group Kalush Orchestra after topping the televoting and coming fourth in the jury vote. This was their third success in the competition after winning in 2004 and 2016 also.
Unfortunately due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, they are unable to host the contest this year instead it will be held in Liverpool after Sam Ryder representing the United Kingdom came second to Ukraine while also topping the jury votes.

Who Will Represent Ukraine in Eurovision 2023?
Ukraine is set to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with “Heart of Steel” performed by Tvorchi. The Ukrainian national broadcaster, Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA: PBC), organised a national final to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2023 contest. As the winner of the 2022 Eurovision song contest, Ukraine automatically qualifies for the final.
What Is Ukraine’s Eurovision Song?
“Heart of Steel” is a song by the Ukrainian electronic duo Tvorchi. The duo say the song warns about the dangers of nuclear warfare saying they looked into the history of the contest and how it was created after WW2 to unite Europe. “Today, while some are playing with nuclear threats, people with steel hearts are protecting all of Europe.”
Tvorchi member Andrii Hutsuliak started writing “Heart of Steel” in 2022, during the siege of Mariupol. After watching videos of the Ukrainian army defending the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, he was inspired to write a song based on the determination not to give up the area.

How Many Times has Ukraine Won the Eurovision?
Ukraine has won the Eurovision on three occasions. Their first victory came in 2004 when they won with “Wild Dances” a Pop Folk song by Ukrainian singer-songwriter Ruslana. The song, representing her country, won the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 held in Istanbul with a score of 280 points.
Their second success at the event came when “1944” a song written and performed by Ukrainian singer Jamala represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and won with a total of 534 points.
Their third and most recent success came in last year’s event when they participated and won in Turin, Italy, with the song “Stefania” performed by the group Kalush Orchestra after topping the televoting and coming fourth in the jury vote.
