Masters Top Irish Player Odds

The 87th Masters gets underway on Thursday as Augusta National plays host to the first major of the year as is tradition in the golfing calendar. Since the tournament’s inception there has never been an Irish Winner with Rory Mcllroy coming closest with his 2nd place finish in 2022.

At this year’s tournament, there are four Irishmen venturing to Augusta hoping to land that famed green jacket and in turn become the first Irishman to do so winning a competition last year by Scottie Scheffler.

Rory Mcllroy – Favourite For Top Irish Player @ 4/11

The runaway favourite to be top Irish Player and World Number 3 Rory McIlroy comes into Augusta looking to finally land that fourth elusive major and complete the Grand Slam of Golf! From his 5 starts in 2023, he has 1 win and 1 2nd place finish.

Last time out McIlroy was cut at The Players Championship with a score of +5 while his last victory came back in January at the Dubai Desert Classic.

Mcllory has felt the pressure of Augusta in previous tournaments but if he gets his game together he could be in contention not just for Top Irish Player status at 4/11 but as outright winner of the entire thing.

Rory is the pre-tournament Masters favourite and we previewed the chances of him and the other big names in our Masters 2023 Preview.

Shane Lowry @ 7/2

The Offaly man Shane Lowry comes into the 2023 Masters following his best performance at the competition last year which saw him finish in a tie for third. He will be hoping to be near the top of the leaderboard once again this April.

Lowry hasn’t had the best of 2023 as he is without a win and after parting with his long-time caddie in January he will want to put all that behind him at Augusta and bring back the form from his recent fixture where he beat Masters favourites Rory Mcllroy and Jon Rahm who finished in second place.

Lowry has produced magic on this course before and you would be foolish to write him off being the top Irishman in the field.

Seamus Power – 6/1

The 2023 Masters will be Seamus Power’s second Masters appearance following a respectable tie for 27th at last years event. He earned his invitation back in October when he won in Bermuda at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship to earn both his second career PGA Tour win and his second invitation to Augusta National.

The Irish golfer has five top-25 finishes worldwide in 2023, T-14 in Los Angeles and T-15 in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and seemingly without feeling much pressure heading into this event,

“I still feel like I’m in the same boat as last year in that people probably aren’t expecting that much of me… but I’m really feeling good about my game. And if I can do some of the right things, I can definitely improve on last year anyway.”

Seamus Power is 6/1 for Top Irish Golfer status at Augusta.

Matthew McClean – 50/1

To round out the betting is very much the unknown quantity within the Irish contingent at Augusta. Northern Ireland’s Matthew McClean qualified for the event through his victory in the 2022 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Erin Hills in Wisconsin with a 3-and-1 victory over his friend Hugh Foley in the final.

With that he earned one of seven amateur places at the Masters this year, the 29 -year-old optometrist will also play in the U.S. Open this summer. Matthew will be able to go to Augusta and play without fear and expectation as he said “it’s going to be amazing” when talking about the experience of playing at the Masters.

You can back McClean as an outsider at 50/1 to be the Top Irish Golfer at Augusta.
